Schools, Faith-based groups, and NGOs involved in Israel/Palestine issues often struggle in navigating what looks like a minefield.
By harnessing my experience living, studying, and working on the conflict, I help shed light on blind spots and connect distant dots. With experience that spans academia, civil society, and government, including pupils and presidents, I speak to an audience’s specific needs.

I help them engage confidently in tough conversations to achieve breakthroughs thanks to the breadth of my expertise. Seemingly impenetrable barriers become bridges for learning, connecting, and growing.

About Nizar

Nizar Farsakh is a political analyst and speaker specializing in Israel/Palestine issues. He got hooked on the conflict since he was 10, watching the evening news daily and eavesdropping on the adults’ political conversations whenever his parents had guests over.

He studied it in college at the American University of Beirut, then worked on it as a researcher in the West Bank, then joined the Palestinian negotiating team an participated in second track talks and people to people initiatives too. In the US, he worked at the Palestinian representative office in Washington DC, and got involved with Arab, Muslim, and Jewish organizations. Nizar found that many American organizations struggle to have constructive conversations about Israel/Palestine that bridge perspectives and drive meaningful impact.

Combined with his experience and desire to help, Nizar took to the stage with the goal of reaching as many people as possible in the realm of cross-cultural understanding and leadership. Today, his talks inspire audiences to engage in courageous dialogues, equip them with practical leadership skills, and foster environments where diverse perspectives can engage productively.
Nizar Farsakh is a highly sought-after speaker and consultant. Nizar has helped advocacy groups, nonprofits, and leadership teams to deepen their knowledge of Israel/Palestine, build innovative engagements, and cultivate inspiring leaders and initiatives.

If you are looking for someone to transform your group’s approach to the conflict and learn to bridge divides with effective leadership, Nizar Farsakh is the answer for your next event.

TALK ONE

Why do Palestinians think what they think?

Having worked on this for over 40 years, I found that a lot of the incomprehension stems from one party’s ignorance and/or misunderstanding of the other party’s world view. In this talk, we touch on demographic and political facts about Palestinians, their view of history, as well as key misconceptions they have of the Israeli narrative that explain why Palestinians think what they think.

Learning objectives:

  • Recognize the different Palestinian political and cultural groupings
  • Distinguish historical events and interpretations that explain the Palestinian narrative
  • Distinguish the common and divergent intra-Palestinian attributes.

Palestine in the US: who, what, where, when, why, and how?

This talk goes over features of the Palestinian American identity and its relationship to the homeland, the Palestine question’s touch points in US foreign policy, and the manifestations of those touch points domestically (BDS, Anti-Semitism, Islamophobia, and intersectionality with other protest groups).

Learning objectives:

  • get how US Palestinians and those in the homeland differ
  • understand the interests, fears, and concerns that govern each group’s political rhetoric
  • differentiating rhetoric from actual interests and stakes

TALK THREE

Can narrative leadership unlock the door to peace?

Israelis and Palestinians adopted varied and distinct narratives to make sense of their fortunes and to justify their actions. Some of these narratives contradict the other’s while some mirror them. Individuals often subscribe to several narratives and deploy each one depending on the circumstances. In this talk, we cover the most common narratives and explain their utility to each group.

Learning objectives:

  • Dispel several misconceptions about singular reasons for the conflict
  • Understand the objective and world view served by each narrative
  • Appreciate convergent narratives that could bridge perspectives

“Our church struggled to agree on a statement about the war in Gaza. We felt grief, outrage, and the challenge of being objective and balanced. At the suggestion of friends, we invited Nizar to share his knowledge and expertise. His engaging presentation and respectful attitude towards all peoples inspired us. Soon after, we were able to reach consensus on a statement for peace and justice.”
